... was the wife of John Donaldson, Baron Donaldson of Lymington, who was Master of the Rolls from 1982 to 1992. She was thus known as Lady Donaldson (or Baroness Donaldson).
Lord Donaldson is best known in some circles for his role as presiding judge in the infamous miscarriage of justice in the case of the Guildford Four, in 1975. In his closing remarks he regretted that the Four hadn't been charged with treason, as that would have made them liable for a death penalty. They were released in 1989, after the Lord Chief Justice, Lord Lane, ruled that all the police evidence was suspect, and hence the case for the prosecution was unsafe.
